Getting Started
Create Your P1 / GAIN Account
Visit login.dso.mil/register and complete the form with your name, affiliation, pay grade, unit, and a unique username.
- For CAC / IL4 access, use a .mil email address — you'll need to verify it after submitting.
- Do not set a password until after account creation if you plan to use a CAC.
⚠ Check your junk folder — the verification email can take a few minutes to arrive.
Check your inbox for the Platform One verification email. Click the link inside and select Save when prompted to finalize your account setup.
Save gain.il4.afwerx.dso.mil as a bookmark. On your first login you'll be prompted to complete a profile form unique to the GAIN platform.
Off-Network Access
Setup Two-Factor Authentication
Why it's required
When accessing GAIN off the DoD NIPR network without a CAC connected, 2FA is mandatory. It ensures only you can sign in — even if your password is compromised.
What you'll need
Install an authenticator app on your phone — Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator both work. Then follow the steps below.
Go to login.dso.mil using a computer with your CAC card inserted and reader connected.
Click Authenticator in the top-right corner of the Platform One window. Then on your phone:
- Open your authenticator app and tap Scan a QR code
- Scan the code on screen — a 6-digit one-time code will appear in your app
- Enter that code into Platform One's One-time code field and give the device a name (e.g. "iPhone")
In Platform One, navigate to the Password menu. Enter and confirm a new password, then click Save. You're now ready to log in from any device.
